About Saudi Global Port

Saudi Global Ports (SGP) is the operator of both the deep sea container terminals at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, and the Riyadh Dry Port Ecosystem (Riyadh Dry Port, Riyadh Empty Yard and Dammam Empty Container Yard).
Dammam seaport is Saudi Arabia’s main maritime gateway on the Arabian Gulf and is connected to the Riyadh Dry Port Ecosystem through extensive rail and road networks, serving major cities in the Eastern and Central regions of Saudi Arabia. Since its inception, SGP has been on a remarkable journey of growth and innovation, playing a pivotal role in enhancing Saudi Arabia’s port and logistics infrastructure, in line with Vision 2030.

Our Journey of Growth and Achievement

  • Saudi Global Ports (SGP) has been on a transformative journey since 2012 when the joint venture between the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and PSA International was formed to operate build, develop and subsequently operate the then-greenfield King Abdulaziz Port’s Second Container Terminal.
  • The foundation for Terminal 2 was laid in 2013, followed by the arrival of the first Quay Cranes (QCs) and Rubber-Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTGs) in 2014.
  • SGP officially began vessel operations in 2015, marking the start of its commercial activities. Continuous investments, including the addition of 8 more RTGs in 2017, have enhanced operational efficiency.
  • In 2020, SGP consolidated operations for Terminals 1 and 2, further streamlining services at King Abdulaziz Port.
  • SGP formally assumed the operatorship of the Riyadh Dry Port (RDP) Ecosystem on 14 March 2022.
  • By 2022, SGP celebrated handling over 2 million Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs). in a single year and broke ground on new civil works. The following year, SGP achieved another milestone with the handling of 2.3 mil TEUs.
  • In 2024, SGP marked a significant milestone by handling its 10 millionth TEU, underscoring its commitment to transforming King Abdulaziz Port into a key hub for the region and the world.

 

The journey continues

Over its 30-year concession, Saudi Global Ports (SGP) is committed to a comprehensive development and modernization plan that will significantly enhance the seaport's capabilities. These initiatives will boost the port's annual container handling capacity to an estimated 7.5 million TEUs in 2050.
Other key projects include the establishment of an Integrated Logistics Park at Dammam Seaport and the development of a bonded warehouse in Riyadh, aimed at expanding SGP’s ecosystem within the Kingdom.
